Coloquio de Física - A deep dive Into the neutrino waves
Departamentos Ciencias - Sección Física
Ponente: Janet Conrad (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) There is much to love about the neutrino. It is the most independent of all of the known fundamental particles, interacting with us (or any other material) very rarely. But when it does interact --- it has something to say! It is the first particle to show unexpected behavior in many years! That’s a good reason for it to be beloved by physicists. But another reason is that neutrinos show the classic behavior of quantum mechanics --- that particles behave like waves. Unlike most particles, neutrinos show this on human-sized scales. This talk will discuss neutrinos within the particle-wave context and the secrets we have learned from them.
