The presentation focuses on seismic risk of the community and several research studies are reported. The seismic risk and resilience are strongly related and they are fundamental in seismic risk mitigation and governance. The seismic vulnerability (buildings, lifelines), play a fundamental role. Nevertheless, to mitigate the seismic risk of the community, the problem is strongly multidisciplinary and non-linear. In fact, seismic risk management may be considered an optimal conjunction between scientific research and decision making.
